The Thailand Premier League ( _th. ไทยแลนด์พรีเมียร์ลีก) or Thai League ( _th. ไทยลีก) is the top professional football league in Thailand. Currently, Thailand Premier league involves 16 clubs.

History

Before the inception of Thailand Premier League, the highest level of club football was the Kor Royal Cup ( _th. ถ้วย ก.) which competed in the tournament during 1916-1995.

Afterwards, Thailand Premier League was formally formed in 1996 by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), with 18 clubs drew from the Kor Royal Cup and competed by the league system. In primary, Thailand Premier league consist in 10 to 12 clubs until 2007, There are 16 clubs. Three clubs of Thailand Premier League will relegate in to Thailand Division 1 League.

And also in 2007, Thailand Premier League was combined with Provincial League completely. Chonburi FC was the first club from Provincial League that was the champion of Thailand Premier League in 2007 season.
