- Pectin lyase
In
enzymology , a pectin lyase (EC number|4.2.2.10) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :Eliminative cleavage of (1->4)-alpha-D-galacturonan methyl ester to give oligosaccharides with 4-deoxy-6-O-methyl-alpha-D-galact-4-enuronosyl groups at their non-reducing ends
This enzyme belongs to the family of
lyase s, specifically those carbon-oxygen lyases acting on polysaccharides. The systematic name of this enzyme class is (1->4)-6-O-methyl-alpha-D-galacturonan lyase. Other names in common use include pectin trans-eliminase, endo-pectin lyase, polymethylgalacturonic transeliminase, pectin methyltranseliminase, pectolyase, PL, PNL, and PMGL.tructural studies
As of late 2007, 3 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1IDJ, PDB link|1IDK, and PDB link|1QCX.
