- Arogenate dehydratase
In
enzymology , an arogenate dehydratase (EC number|4.2.1.91) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :L-arogenate L-phenylalanine + H2O + CO2
Hence, this enzyme has one substrate,
L-arogenate , but 3 products:L-phenylalanine , H2O, and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of
lyase s, specifically the hydro-lyases, which cleave carbon-oxygen bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-arogenate hydro-lyase (decarboxylating; L-phenylalanine-forming). Other names in common use include carboxycyclohexadienyl dehydratase, and L-arogenate hydro-lyase (decarboxylating). This enzyme participates inphenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis .References
