Kandhkot

Kandhkot is the chief city of Kandhkot Taluka, Kashmore District in the Sindh province of Pakistan [ [http://www.lgdsindh.com.pk/tmakandhkot6.htm Taluka Municipal Administration Kandh Kot] ] . This city is the major hub for the grain and cattle industry. The "Anaj mandi" (Grain market) of Kandhkot is said to be the second largest grain market of Asia. Kandhkot has its own gas and oil fields. It is located in the centre of Kashmore as Kashmore lies in its east, Tangwani in its North, Shikarpur in the West and Indus River in the south which links it with Ghotki District through Kachha Area.

Kandhkot was named after the Indus River Bank as it is situated on the left bank of the river. The main crops of Kandhkot include rice and wheat. Many social organizations are based in Kandhkot such as the Education Development Organization, Human Resource Development Initiative and Kainnat Welfare Association. There are many projects that are being run in Kandhkot such as Sindh Development Social Services Program (SDSSP), National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) and PPHI.

Demography

The Main Tribes of Kandhkot include Maliks, Bijaranis, Sheikhs, Soomras, Bajkanis, Sundranis, Noonaris and Hindus.

Domki is the main tribe of this area and consist on many sub tribes which include Gishkori, Golato, Miroi, wazirani and Giloe. Gishkoris are serving in district courts and other departments.Mir Ghalib Hussain Domki is Chief of Domki in Sindh.He is MPA elected in February 2008.and he is Ex-MNA and Minister.
