Jason 'Jacko' Barry (Born February 13, 1975 in Dublin) is one of the most successful dart players ever to come from Ireland. Playing since he was only a young lad, Jacko has many achievements under his belt. Jacko took Dublin to victory in 2000 when he threw the winning dart in the All-Ireland Championships. He is also a well-known name when it comes to the Tramore Darts Festival, having won it twice in 2006 & 2007. “East Coast Open Champion” is another achievement to be added to his list, having accomplished this in 2001.

Fingal ace Jacko won himself a place in the 2007 Sky Bet World Darts Grand Prix. The St. Margarets lad came through a record-breaking field of 549 players at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin to secure his spot in the PDC tournament. His qualification made amends for his hard efforts over the previous 3 years. Having been knocked out of the qualifiers in the quarter-final in 2004, the semi-final in 2005, and the final in 2006, Jacko took one step further in 2007, and guaranteed himself a place amongst the worlds top 24 dart players. He took World No. 16 Andy 'Rocky' Jenkins to the limit, pushing the score to 1 set & 2 legs all before bowing out of what was one of the most spectacular games of darts in the tournament.

Following on from the World Grand Prix, Fifteen Irish players travelled to Wolverhampton on Friday 16th November to the World Championship qualifiers in the hope of grabbing some of the eight places available in the Grand Finals but only Barry survived and he qualified with a 5-3 win against Jamie Harvey in his last match. Jacko made his appearance in the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championships alongside fellow Dubliner Mick 'The Magnet' McGowan.

Jacko followed these tournaments up with a top 64 qualification for the televised finals of the Blue Square UK Open 2008. He defeated Adrian Welsh in the early stages of the tournament. Jacko followed this with a 9-2 vistory over Alan Casey, to secure his place in the last 32 players in the event. The fourth round draw placed Jacko in the biggest game of his career to date - Jacko barry V Raymond van Barneveld - the World ranked Number 1, and defending champion.

Coming from 5-1 down, Barry levelled 6-6 with finishes of 128 and 140. With over two dozen 100+ scores, including thirteen 140's and two maximum 180's, barry presisted. Just as Barney pushed to an 8-6 lead and looked to have the game wrapped uo, Jacko struck with six fantastic darts with a 180 and 125 finish. The experience of the World Number 1 was all that separated the two players, as Berneveld broke Jacko's throw to narrowly seal victory.

Within just 8 months of becoming a professional player, Jacko rocketed up the World Rankings, and currently sits inside of the top 64 players in the world. He has proved that he is more than capable of taking on the best players in the world, and has received some excellent compliments from some of the major names in darts. Having accomplished his most recent goal (to break into the top 64 in the world), Jacko now has his eye set on a spot in the top 32.

Following a 1st round win over Fermanagh's Brendan Dolan, Jacko is now set to take on World Champion John Part in the last 16 of the SkyPoker World Grand Prix, CityWest, Dublin.
