Areka (also known as Areka Ancheto) is a town in southeastern
Ethiopia . Located in theSemien Omo Zone of theSouthern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region , this town has a latitude and longitude of coord|7|4|N|37|42|E and an elevation of 1774 meters above sea level.Areka is served by a sub-office of the Ethiopian postal service. Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this town has an estimated total population of 22,277, of whom 10,783 were males and 11,494 were females.
