History

It was founded in 1965 as the Scarborough and District Search and Rescue Team to help rescue walkers lost or injured on the North York Moors, England. It was originally started by the North York Moors National Park voluntary rangers who saw a need to provide a service to the increasing numbers of walkers using the moors. In 2003 new recruits to the team were followed by a television film crew for the BBC's "Inside Out" programme.
