ISO/IEC JTC1/SC31/WG5

ISO JTC1 (TC122) SC31 WG5 is a new working group of the ISO on the topic of mobile item identification and management (MIIM). This standardization working group faces the widening of both radio-frequency identification and real time locating systems with the increasing variety of approaches based on IEEE 802.15.4a communications platform standard. The solutions address either common ZigBee UWB or Nanotron's CSS UWB.

The standardization activity is targeting the move from fixed RFID readers to mobile applications with RFID, mobile RFID, RTLS and hybrids thereof. Another approach coming into aspects is the joining with concepts of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project] [ [http://www.3gpp.org] (Third generation miobile communications)] .
