The FCR 2001 Duisburg (full name: "Fußballclub Rumeln 2001 Duisburg") is a German women's football club from Duisburg. The first team plays in the Fußball-Bundesliga (women). They have won the German championship in 2000 and the German Cup in 1998. The 2nd team plays in Group South of the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga (women).

History

The roots of the club can be traced back to the year 1955 when the FC Rumeln-Kaldenhausen was founded. The first women's team was established in 1977. They won promotion to the Bundesliga in 1993. In 1997, the club lost the last Bundesliga final against Grün-Weiß Brauweiler in a penalty shootout. After the season, the Bundesliga was transformed from a two-tier into a single-tier league and the club was renamed to FCR Duisburg 55. The team reached the final of the German cup in 1998. They beat FSV Frankfurt with 6-2 and Inka Grings scored three goals. Two years later, the club won it's first and only championship to date. Grings scored 38 goals during the 1999-00 campaign - a league record to this date.

On June 8, 2001, the women's football section of the club split their ties to their motherclub and established their own club. They could not win any more trophies but they remained into the top four of the league. The lionesses were Bundesliga runners-up in the last three seasons. The under 17 girls team won the German championship in 2007.
