Frederick Kimber Seward (also spelled Frederic) (March 23, 1878 – December 7, 1943) was a corporation lawyer of the firm Curtis, Mallet, Prevot & Colt in New York City, and a survivor of the RMS Titanic disaster.

Personal life

Seward was born on March 23, 1878 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of Samuel S. Seward and Crissie Kimber. He graduated from Columbia University in 1899 and was a member of its Glee Club. He was the younger brother of Dr. J. Perry Seward (b. 1868), a prominent homoeopath in New York.

R.M.S. Titanic

Seward boarded the Titanic at Southampton as a first class passenger on April 10, 1914. On April 14, the night of the ship's collision with an iceberg, Seward was playing cards with William T. Sloper and his church friend, Dorothy Gibson in the first class lounge. Seward survived the sinking, escaping in lifeboat 7, the first to leave the ship.

Later life

Seward returned home to New York City, where he died of heart failure on December 7, 1943.
