Tickets can be purchased at the machines or in the ticket office. There is also a Nippon travel agency located just opposite the ticket gates in the station itself where transport enquiries and arrangements may also be made.
It is situated on the Southern side of the Ohashi-gawa river which divides Matsue into North and South. Adjoined you will find souvenir, clothing and pharmaceutical shopping facilities, along with a selection of dining choices. Next door is the Ichibata department store. There is a tourist information centre located directly outside the northern exit (i.e. to your right as you are exiting from the ticket gates).
The station started operation on November 8, 1908.
