The Foundational Questions Institute, styled FQXi, is an organization which provides grants to “catalyze, support, and disseminate research on questions at the foundations of physics and cosmology.” [ [http://www.fqxi.org/about.html About the Foundational Questions Institute] ] [ [http://www.fqxi.org/about.html Physics Today, December 2005, p31] ] It has run two world-wide grant competitions, with the second competition currently in progress.The first competition provided US $2M to 30 projects, including

FQXi is an independent, philanthropically funded non-profit organization, run by scientists for scientists,with a Scientific Advisory Board including Alan Guth, Martin Rees and Frank Wilczek. The seed funding was donated by the John Templeton Foundation.
