The Aowei Church of Holy Rosary (zh-cp|c=澳尾巷玫瑰圣母堂|p=ǎowěi xiàng méigūi shèngmǔ jiàotáng, literally "Aowei Church of Holy Rosary") is a catholic church in
Fuzhou ,China . It was founded in1884 as acathedral by theDominican Order fromSpain .History
This catholic church lies on the middle of ChaTing avenue, and is the oldest church in Fuzhou (
Foochow ). It was built as acathedral in 1848(theQing Dynasty ). The building has a Mediterranean Sea style and 360 sq. meters.In 1923,
the episcopal throne was moved toHuong_song_pu church which was the biggest church inFujian (Fukien ).During
institutional revolution (A greatest mass production movement which was launched byMao Zedong the leader ofCCP ) from1965 to1975 , the religious toleration was destroyed by the government, and the church was impropriated by factory of government. In1983 , the church was impropriated again by the children hospital of Fuzhou and the whole building was destroyed in charge of the government.In
1987 and1992 , the local government announced that this building would be protected as a cultural relic.External links
