USC Interactive Media Division

USC Interactive Media Division

The intlink|University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts's Interactive Media Division first accepted students in intlink|2002. In addition to coursework in film production, screenwriting, and animation, students in the division study across three disciplines within interactive media: intlink|virtual reality|immersive media, intlink|mobile phone|mobile media, and intlink|video games. The IMD has a group intlink|weblog edited by the students and faculty, sharing the results of their research.

Major funders of the USC IMD include intlink|Electronic Arts, whose intlink|Bing Gordon took a faculty chair at the school in intlink|2005.

Faculty & Staff

Currently, the division is headed by intlink|Scott Fisher, a pioneer in intlink|virtual reality research, with help from intlink|Jen Stein, a media and communications scholar and intlink|Marientina Gotsis, a new media artist and lab manager for the division. Faculty have included intlink|Steve Anderson, intlink|Anne Balsamo, intlink|Julian Bleecker, intlink|Mark Bolas, intlink|Peter Brinson, Tracy Fullerton, intlink|Perry Hoberman, intlink|Michael Lew, intlink|Erik Loyer, intlink|Jacki Morie, intlink|Michael Naimark, intlink|Eddo Stern, intlink|Chris Swain, intlink|Peggy Weil.
