1 March 1875 –16 November 1945 ) was Prime Minister of Iceland from21 July 1914 to4 May 1915 , and from7 March 1922 to22 March 1924 . He was a member ofAlþingi from 1911 to 1915, 1916 to 1926 and 1927 to 1931. He was minister of Finance from 1917 to 1920. He was one of the politicians that founded theIndependence Party (Iceland) in 1929. He graduated in laws fromUniversity of Copenhagen in 1903. His wife was named Solveig, and they had two children: Petur and Erna. Petur Eggerz entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served in various diplomatic posts, including as Ambassador to Germany, before retiring to Iceland and becoming a bestselling author.
