February 25 ,1907 ) is an American philanthropist and the widow of businessmanShelby Cullom Davis , who was also United States Ambassador toSwitzerland from 1969 to 1974. Her husband died in 1994.During her life, Kathryn Davis worked for the Council on Foreign Relations, and authored a book entitled "The Soviets at Geneva: The USSR and the League of Nations, 1919-1933".
The Davis Projects for Peace
Upon her 100th birthday in 2007, Davis committed $1,000,000 to fund one hundred $10,000 projects for peace. Also in 2007, she and her son, Princeton Trustee Shelby M. C. Davis gave a $5 million gift to create an endowment for Princeton’s International Center. The center will now be called the Kathryn W. and Shelby Cullom Davis ’30 International Center.
