History

WBLT began broadcasting February 9, 1950, and was originally on 1490 with 250 watts. In 1955, WBLT moved to 1350 with a power of 1000 watts, daytime only.

WBLT was founded by James E. Synan, who owned it up until his death in the late 1990's.
