This New Day (BBC Radio Ulster)

This New Day, BBC Radio Ulster, Sundays, 7.05am-8.30am.

Every week BBC Radio Ulster’s This New Day offers listeners a gentle andrelaxing way to begin their Sunday mornings.

Presented by Kim Lenaghan ensures that it’s ‘easy like Sunday morning’ from 7.05am-8.30am as she invites her listeners to join her and her guests for some chilled andsometimes cheeky chat and a playlist of engaging mellow music which includeseverything from Nina Simone and Frank Sinatra, to Dusty Springfield and DukeSpecial.

Kim says: “When my alarm goes off at 5am, I don’t exactly jump out of bed thinking ‘howfantastic to be getting up in the middle of the night’, but once I’m up there really isnowhere else I’d rather be than behind the microphone on This New Day."

“The vibe is definitely relaxed, though the chat can sometimes be a little bit cheeky, especially when my favourite celebrities are in the firing line."

“When I first started presenting the show, I used to wonder what my audience weredoing up at that hour of a Sunday morning? Over the years I’ve discovered that most ofthem are actually still snuggled down under their duvets, nice and cosy, enjoying a cuppa,a chuckle and some splendid tunes. I’ve also lost count of the number of men who’vetold me they waken up with me every Sunday morning – even when their wivesare with them!"

“There’s definitely a real bond between me and my listeners on This New Day. I thinkwe really understand one another.”
