- James M. Paramore
James Martin Paramore (born
1928-05-06 ) has been ageneral authority ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 1977.Paramore was born in
Salt Lake City ,Utah . Prior to his call as a general authority, he served as a bishop,stake president , andregional representative of the Twelve Apostles in Utah. In the late 1960s, Paramore was the president of the Franco–Belgian Mission of the church.In 1977, Paramore became a member of the
First Quorum of the Seventy . From 1981 to 1983, he was a counselor toHugh W. Pinnock in the general presidency of the church's Sunday School. In 1987, Paramore became a member of the seven-manPresidency of the Seventy , and held this position until he was given general authorityemeritus status in 1998.In his professional life, Paramore was employed by
U.S. Steel , theChurch Educational System , and as the executive secretary to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He also also served as the executive director of the Utah Committee on Children and Youth. Paramore is a graduate ofBrigham Young University .References
