Australian House of Representatives for theDivision of Cunningham ,New South Wales , at the October 2004 election. She had contested the same seat at the 2002 by-election, but was defeated by theAustralian Greens candidate,Michael Organ .Bird was born in Wollongong, and was educated at
Sydney University and theUniversity of Wollongong . She was a high-school teacher before entering politics. She worked as an electorate officer forColin Hollis , the member for the adjoining seat of Throsby, and was then a Senior Project Officer with the New South Wales Department of Juvenile Justice. She was a member of the Shellharbour City Council 1991-95.References
