Bob Roggy

Bob Roggy

Bob Roggy (born 1956-08-06 in Holmdel Township, New Jersey – died August 1986) was a javelin thrower from the United States. He set the world best year performance in 1982, throwing 95.80 metres in Stuttgart, West Germany on 1982-08-29.

A meet was named after him after Roggy's tragic death at age 30 in August 1986. The meet name became the New Jersey International Meet in 1988, with the "Bob Roggy Memorial Javelin Throw" a feature event within it. Roggy was killed in an accident in 1986 in Houston, Texas at the first Olympic Sports Festival.

Roggy attended Holmdel High School. [ [http://www.runningnetwork.com/news/26499.html USATF Notes; Marion, Monique and Tom Petronoff] , USATF, June 8, 2007. "The meet is hosted by Shore Athletic Club in cooperation with Holmdel High School, alma mater of the late Bob Roggy, a former world No. 1 in the javelin."]
