Central Pulse is one of 10 netball teams that compete in the trans-Tasman
ANZ Championship. They were the first New Zealand based Franchise to announce its name. They are an amalgamation of the Capital Shakers and Western Flyers. The Pulse are based in Wellington, home of the Shakers, but play regular season matches in Napier and Palmerston North, both cities previously under the Flyers catchment area. The Pulse catchment area also includes the previously unaffiliated Netball Tasman organisation, based in Nelson

The English defender Sonia Mkoloma was one of the first players to be named for the Pulse squad.

On January 30, automotive company Suzuki New Zealand was named as the major sponsor for the Pulse [ [http://www.pulse.org.nz/newsfeed.php#news_2008_01_30 PULSE Netball - Newsfeed ] ]
