December 18 1925 ) is a British actress, best known for her role inJoseph H. Lewis ' "Gun Crazy ", playing a sharp shooter who robs banks with her lover (played byJohn Dall ).Cummins was born in
Prestatyn ,Wales . Her film debut was in "Dr. O'Dowd" (1940). She moved to Hollywood in the mid-forties, making six films there, including "Gun Crazy " (1949), before returning to Britain in 1950. In 1953 she appeared in "Meet Mr. Lucifer " anEaling Studios comedy, and later starred alongsideDana Andrews in "Night of the Demon " (1957), directed byJacques Tourneur . Another 1957 film she appeared in was "Hell Drivers", which also featuredStanley Baker ,Patrick McGoohan , andHerbert Lom . She briefly datedHoward Hughes . She was married to Derek Dunnett from 1950 until his death in 2001 and had two children with him.Her career ended long ago and she lives in retirement. During the 1970s Cummins was very active in a national charity, Stars Organisation for Spastics, raising money and chairing the management committee of a holiday centre for children with disabilities in
Sussex .On
June 14 2006 she appeared as guest of honour at a special screening of "Night of the Demon" inBorehamwood ,Hertfordshire . The elegant and youthful-looking Cummins answered some questions from the audience before viewing the film for the very first time.
