Cecil Abbott

Cecil "Cec" Roy Abbott (born 1923) was the Commissioner of the New South Wales Police in Australia from 10 October 1981 to 28 February 1984. He succeeded James Travers Lees to the position and was himself succeeded by John Keith Avery.

Cecil Abbott joined as a cadet in 1941 and graduated to the Police Force in 1945. He climbed through the ranks to be Commissioner of Police for the New South Wales Police and the most powerful police officer in the State of New South Wales. This position brought with it much prestige as New South Wales being the most populous state has the largest police force, in fact the largest in the southern hemisphere and one of the largest police forces in the entire world.
