- Hydrometalation
Hydrometalation (hydrometallation) is a type of
chemical reaction inorganometallic chemistry in which achemical compound with ahydrogen tometal bond (M-H, metalhydride ) adds to a compounds with anunsaturated bond like analkene (RC=CR) forming a new compound with acarbon to metal bond (RHC-CRM) ] . [Elschenbroich, C. ”Organometallics” (2006) Wiley-VCH: Weinheim. ISBN 978-3-29390-6] . The metal is lesselectronegative than hydrogen, the reverse reaction isbeta-hydride elimination . The reaction is structurally related tocarbometalation . When the substrate is analkyne the reaction product is a vinylorganometallic.:
Examples are
hydroboration ,hydrosilylation andhydrozirconation .References
