Early Life and Education
Luallen is a native of Frankfort. She graduated from Frankfort High School before continuing on to study at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.
Early Career
She has served the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky since 1974, starting with her service in Gov. Wendell Ford's executive cabinet. She worked in various other state government positions including Secretary of the Executive Cabinet under Governor Paul E. Patton, culminating in her election to Auditor in 2003 and re-election in 2007.[1]
Kentucky Auditor
She was elected to the position of state auditor in November 2003 and was re-elected by a wide margin in the 2007 Kentucky State Elections on 6 November 2007.[2] Louallen is not eligible to run for another term as Auditor.
Political Future
Luallen was considered a top contender for the Democratic nomination to challenge Senator Mitch McConnell in the 2008 Election[3] before announcing her decision not to run but instead to remain as Auditor. She is currently considering a challenge to Senator McConnell in 2014.[4]
