Esterio Segura Mora (born August 22, 1970 in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba) is a Cuban artist.

Since very young, he had an immense interest in visual arts and he had a full education on this field. From 1982 to 1985 he studied at the Escuela Elemental de Artes Plásticas of Camaguey, Cuba and right after he finished the elemental level he started medium at the Escuela Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Ballet also in Camaguey. Already in Havana, in 1989 he begins his instruction at the "Instituto Superior de Arte (I.S.A)" which he finished in 1994. He worked as professor at the Escuela Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Ballet in Camaguey and in 1993—together with Carlos Garaicoa—he undertook the curatorial design of the exhibition "Las Metáforas del Templo" that took place at the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales in Havana. Since 1995 he's a member of the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC). Sculpture, drawing and installation are the artistic lines of work that he has preferred along his career.

Individual exhibitions

His first individual exhibition tooked place in the Escuela Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Ballet, Camagüey, Cuba in 1986. Since then he continued with a very active artistic career. As an example of this we can mention the exhibition of 1996 "Bird and Fish: In the Freeser". Gasworks Studios, London , UK. In 1997 was showed "Habanos libres y yo. Fotografías y dibujos", Fundación Ludwig de Cuba, Havana, Cuba. IN 1999 presented "Espacio ocupado por un sueño", Centro Wifredo Lam, Havana, Cuba.

Collective exhibitions

Among the collective exhibitions that he has been involved is the one showed in 1992 "La Misión", Dominico San Juan de Letrán Convent Gallery, Havana, Cuba. In 1993 was part of an important and famos exhibition "Las metáforas del templo", Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, Havana, Cuba. "Una de Cada Clase" was the name of a big exhibition displayed in 1995 and organized by the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, Havana, Cuba. [video catalogue] . In 1998 he was in "La isla a flote"Der Brücke Gallery, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1999 was presented "Trabajando p’al inglé",Concourse Gallery, Ground Floor and Stalls, Barbican Center, London, UK

Awards

His artistic career has been recognized with several awards. In 1988 he won the Prize of Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC).In 1992 he obtained Mention in the National Triannial of little size sculpture, Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, Havana, Cuba. Between 1995 and 1996 Artist in Residence. Gaswork Studio, London, UK. In 1997 Artist in Residence. Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst, Aachen, Germany.

Collections

His works can be found in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana and in The New Museum of Latin American Art, University of Essex, Essex, UK
