The Saint Lucia Giant Rice-rat ("Megalomys luciae") is an extinctIUCN2006|assessors=Baillie|year=1996|id=12981|title=Megalomys luciae|downloaded=10 May 2006] rodent that lived on the island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. It was the size of a small cat and had a darker belly than the Antillean Giant Rice Rat and had slender claws. The last known specimen died the London Zoo in 1852, after three years of captivity.cite book | author = Flannery, T., and P.
