Misc = "Tomorrow Is a Long Time", is a song from theBob Dylan's Greatest Hits Volume II compilation first released in 1971. It is an exclusive live recording made during his famous Town Hall concert onApril 12 1963 . A demo of the song was recorded in 1963 as a part of the "Witmark Demos", a studio session that has been commonly bootlegged over the years. While other songs from these sessions have come to be officially released, this take is still only available as a bootleg. This live version was never released as a single.Elvis Presley 's 1966 version for the "Spinout " soundtrack was not this song's first release, as is often claimed. TheIan and Sylvia recording of 1964 is likely the first recording. However, 1965's "Odetta Sings Dylan " may have been where Elvis first heard it — not being Dylan's greatest fan, it is unlikely Presley would have considered the song for recording based purely on its author's rendition, had that been available prior to 1966.The song has also been covered by
Nickel Creek ,Nick Drake ,Rod Stewart , Dion,Chris Hillman ,Ian and Sylvia ,Joan Baez ,Sandy Denny ,Danielle Howle ,The Silkie ,Nationalteatern andJudy Collins .
