Edward Barry Henderson

Edward Barry Henderson was Bishop of Bath and Wells from 1960 to 1975. The son of a former Dean of Salisbury, Henderson was educated at Radley and Trinity College, Cambridge. After a curacy in Pimlico [During which he married Hester Taylor- with whom he had 3 children. Who's Who 1970 London, A & C Black, 1971 ISBN 0713611405] he was Rector of Holy Trinity, Ayr from 1939 until 1947 (a period which encompassed wartime service in the RNVR) and Vicar of St Paul's Knightsbridge from 1947 [Crockfords, (London, Church House 1995) ISBN 0715180886 ] until his elevation to the suffragan bishopric of Tewkesbury [New Suffragan Bishop (Official Appointments and Notices) The Times Wednesday, Mar 30, 1955; pg. 6; Issue 53200D] , translation to the of Bath See following in 1960. After 15 years he resigned to begin retirement in Somerset [Debrett's People of Today 1992 London, Debrett's 1993 ISBN 1870520092] .
