International Code of Area Nomenclature (ICAN)

The International Code of Area Nomenclature (ICAN) provides a universal naming system or nomenclature for areas of endemism used in biogeography and elsewhere. The ICAN also serves as the international standard rules for proposing and using area names [http://www.sebasite.org/ICAN/ICAN.pdf] .

The ICAN was ratified by the Systematic and Biogeographical Association (SEBA) [http://www.sebasite.org] in Paris during July 2007.
