Plot summary
Roaming silently through the shadows and alleys, Falcon hunts for human blood amongst the dregs of society. As he is about to be attacked by a gang of robbers, Sara Marten attempts to rescue him. At the sight of her, Falcon realizes that the wall he is staring at has peeling, red paint on the side of a building. He had not seen colours for more centuries than he cared to remember. Disbelieving that he has found his lifemate, when the chance arose, Falcon does not run away but lingers long enough for the robbers to regroup and attack. After subduing the attackers, he decides to have his meal after all. Sara comes back for Falcon, only to find him with demonic, glowing eyes and his fangs buried in the neck of one of the men.
Sara runs away in horror, using all of the tricks and shortcuts she knows to get away. Thinking she got home undetected, she relaxes on the porch, enjoying the night. Hidden in the shadows is Falcon, unnoticed until he decides to make an appearance.
Sara recognizes Falcon as the man whose face has haunted and inspired her for the past fifteen years. She does not know whether Falcon is her angel or the enemy similar to that has which has hunted her during the same years. Falcon convinces her to trust him and finds a way to help Sara to save the children from the monster who made her childhood a horror.
