Minnesota ,United States . It is located onLake Minnetonka between what is called the upper and lower lakes. Peter Gideon the famousHorticulturist , claimed convert|160|acre|km2 in what would become Tonka Bay. Here he propagated the "Wealthy" apple, named for his wife Wealthy Hull. Another early settlor of the area was Stephen Hull. He made the first channel connecting the lower and upper lakes of Lake Minnetonka which was called Hull's Narrows. It was South of the current day Narrows, along the present day West Point Road, and Old Channel Bay would seem to be named for it. The population of Tonka Bay was 1,547 as of the 2000 census.Geography

United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (2.04%) is water. Manitou Road serves as a main route.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,547 people, 614 households, and 456 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 1,622.0 people per square mile (628.7/km²). There were 651 housing units at an average density of 682.5/sq mi (264.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.64% White, 0.13% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.52% from other races, and 0.26% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.42% of the population.There were 614 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.5% were married couples living together, 5.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.7% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.90.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 33.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 104.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $84,879, and the median income for a family was $90,783. Males had a median income of $69,375 versus $41,328 for females. The
per capita income for the city was $50,825. About 1.9% of families and 2.2% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 2.1% of those under age 18 and 1.5% of those age 65 or over.References
