Toshiba HD-A2

Introduced in December 2006 to replace the Toshiba HD-A1. The HD-A2 is Toshiba's second generation HD DVD player. It was superseded in November 2007 by the Toshiba HD-A3. It was also the first High Definition player to be sold through major retailers on sale at less than $100. These sales were limited quantity sales designed to make room for the newer HD-A3 model.

The firmware of the HD-A2 units can be upgraded in the home, using either a 10/100 Ethernet-based internet connection, a factory-supplied upgrade CD-ROM or a CD-ROM burned by the user himself (firmware upgrades are available in ISO format from Toshiba)
