Ulla Pedersen Tørnæs (born
September 4 1962 ) is a Danishpolitician and the presentMinister for Development Cooperation of Denmark . She is a member of theLiberal Party (Denmark) and, since 1994, of the Danish parliament ("Folketing "). She served as Minister for Education in theCabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen I (2001-2005) and switched to her current position when theCabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen II was appointed on18 February 2005 .She is the daughter of former minister
Laurits Tørnæs and Katty Tørnæs.Tørnæs was in the news on
25 February 2005 when it became known that her husband, Jørgen Tørnæs, had illegally employed aLatvia n on one of hispig farm s without the required residence andwork permit s. She was not forced to resign as minister because there was no proof she knew the supervisor was illegally employed.References
