Khalid Durán is a specialist in the
history ,sociology andpolitics of theIslamic world . He studied Middle Easternlanguage s andIslam in Bosnia andMorocco , and sociology and political science at the universities of Bonn and Berlin. In the 1970s, he worked atPakistan 's Islamic Research Institute and traveled extensively in theMiddle East andSouth Asia . He has been a visiting professor at universities inPakistan ,Austria ,Germany ,Scandinavia and theUnited States , teaching at departments ofanthropology ,history ,religion andsociology . He is the author of five books and numerous articles on Islamic Religion, the Middle East,North Africa and Central and South Asia, covering both history and current affairs.Quotes
