Terrier vehicle

The Terrier [ [http://www.baesystems.com/ProductsServices/l_and_a_ls_terrier.html Products & Services - BAE Systems ] ] [http://www.army.mod.uk/linkedfiles/ceso/trained_soldiers/kit_magazine/kit61_hi_res.pdf - page 10 of Kit magazine] vehicle is an air-transportable armoured combat engineer vehicle for the Royal Engineers. It is being developed as a replacement vehicle for the FV180 Combat Engineer Tractor used by the British Army.
The vehicle will weigh about 30 tonnes, light enough to be air transportable by C-17 Globemaster III or Airbus A400M currently in use by the British Royal Air Force.It will have mine protection and can be operated by remote control from up to 1000 metres in dangerous environments such as mine clearance. In normal operations it will have a crew of two. It will have enhanced modular armour and will be faster at up to 70km/h and more mobile than the FV180 Combat Engineer Tractor, and will have 360 degree day and night vision systems. A prototype vehicle was officially unveiled on 28th May, 2005. BAE Systems Land and Armaments is in the process of completing four demonstrator vehicles. This will be followed by the commencement of full scale production in their Newcastle factory. [November 2007 issue of Soldier Magazine]
