James McEwen

James McEwen

James McEwen (born Bootle, Liverpool, 16 October 1872; died 1942) AKA Jimmy 'Punch' McEwan was an English professional footballer who won the FA Cup with Bury in 1903. He later became manager of Norwich City F.C..

McEwen was City's second manager, and was in charge for 43 matches between 1907 and 1908, winning 13, losing 20 and drawing 10 games. [Cite web

After leaving Norwich City he joined Arsenal's coaching staff working with the younger players, and was also in charge of first-team affairs at the club during World War I, when it played wartime matches in the London Combination. His association with Arsenal lasted into the 1930s.
