Carlotta Beck

Carlotta Beck

Carlotta Beck, played by actress Dixie Carter, was a fictional character on the television series, "Filthy Rich".

Carlotta was married to wealthy Marshall Beck (Michael Lombard), and with her husband, was truly snobbish. They were waiting for his father, Big Guy Beck to die and so inherit the wealth that he had amassed. However, a stipulation in his will shocked them both. For them to inherit any of Big Guy's money, they had to accept Big Guy's illegitimate son, Wild Bill Westchester (Jerry Hardin) and his ditzy, but sweet-natured wife, Bootsie (Ann Wedgeworth) into their family.

This didn't sit well with either one of them, and during the short time the series was on the air, both Marshall and Carlotta did their best to try to eliminate Wild Bill, Bootsie and the rest of their family from their lives, and to declare the will's constraints invalid.

They felt with everyone else gone, they wouldn't have to share the money and could live it up on the money as they saw fit. Naturally, thanks to the rest of the family, specifically her nicer and independently wealthy brother in-law, Stanley (Charles Frank), who accepted the Westchesters right off, their best-laid schemes ended up a miserable failure.

Carlotta's shameless snobbery wasn't limited towards the Westchesters, but also was aimed squarely at Big Guy's younger second wife, Kathleen (Delta Burke), whom she had no liking for. However, none of her plans succeeded, and when the show was cancelled, it was presumed that she couldn't get rid of the Westchesters, Kathleen, or the constraints of the will.
