Tsung (Valérian)

Tsungs are a fictional, alien species created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières in the French comic book series "Valérian and Laureline".

Tsungs are small, colourful birds resembling Earth hummingbirds. Their most notable characteristic is their ability to perfectly memorise numerous locations and the routes between them, and to travel from one location to another via the shortest possible route. This makes Tsungs invaluable as messengers.

If a Tsung is kept without water for several days, it goes into a hibernation-like state and dries up, becoming easy to store away. Dousing a dried-up Tsung with water revives it, and it is instantly capable or memorising all its locations and routes.
