The Smashing Pumpkins . It was the first single on their fourth album, "Adore", and exhibited a new sound from the band which integrated traditional instruments with loops andelectronica . Both "Ava Adore" and the b-sides were written byBilly Corgan .The music video was lensed by British directors
Dom and Nic and features the band in Gothic-inspired clothing, walking through a variety of scenes. The video, filmed in one long take, is notable for its use of slow andfast motion while the speed of the camera is apparently static, and the band continues tolip sync to the song in perfect rhythm. The calculations required to work out the speed changes caused massive delays on set, causing the band to nearly call off the entire plan. [Corgan, Billy and James Iha. Band Commentary for "Ava Adore." "Greatest Hits Video Collection " DVD. 2001.]When
Jimmy Chamberlin rejoined the band, the band performed the song at concerts in a heavier, more guitar-based arrangement with a more hard-hitting and ornate drum track. In their most recent tour the Pumpkins have once again started playing Ava Adore. The current arrangement is closer to the one from their 2000 tour, but not as heavy.Track listing
