The Union of Clare Students is the name of the JCR (Junior Combination Room) of
Clare College, Cambridge . The Union (usually abbreviated to UCS) represents the students of the college and provides its members with a range of services and support. It was originally founded as the Clare College Students Association in 1969, its constitution written by the future MP and political commentatorMatthew Parris ; the name of the CCSA was changed to its current form in a far-reaching and ambitious package of constitutional reform in 1990.The UCS is famousFact|date=February 2007 throughout
Cambridge for its 'Ents', club nights in the College's converted chapel crypt (commonly known as "The Cellars") where some of the country's topDrum and Bass acts have performed.Comedy andJazz nights are run by societies affiliated to the Union, two of a large number of vibrant student societies supported and funded by the UCS.As of Spring 2008, the current UCS President is Tim Jones.
