Carlos Díaz (politician)

Carlos Díaz-Sánchez is a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Díaz studied at Brigham Young University and, fulfilling his duties as a Mormon, did missionary work in Guatemala.

Public office

He served as a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives representing San Juan House District 5 from 1997 to 2000 and was elected as one of San Juan's two district senators, along with running-mate Roberto Arango, in the 2004 elections. One of the six "authentics" New Progressive Party (NPP) senators, Díaz chairs two standing committees and one select committee of the Senate.

He was narrowly defeated in his aspiration to be reelected as San Juan district Senator in the March 9, 2008 NPP primary.

Personal life

He and his wife Yamila have one daughter and one son.
