The Hofstra University Foundation Inc. was founded in 1976 as a donor-advised fund of Hofstra University. After fulfilling its principle purpose of funding certain research interests of its donor, it was converted in the late 1980s into a self insurance vehicle of the university. It was liquidated on August 17, 2004 by vote of the Board of Directors and ceased to exist on November 3, 2004.
