The origin of the name is thought to be from the
Gandangara Aboriginal word for deep water.Binda was found by the explorers
James Meehan andJohn Oxley in 1820.The town was gazetted in 1850. It the first town to be gazetted in the Crookwell Shire. The land subdivided for sale in 1852.
