It usually grows to between 0.6 and 2 metres in height and produces white or pink flowers between June and November (early winter to late spring) in its native range.The species was first formally described by botanist Robert Brown, his description published in "Supplementum primum prodromi florae Novae Hollandiae" in 1830.
