Linda Royster Beito is chair of the department of social sciences at
Stillman College inTuscaloosa, Alabama .Beito was born in
Tuscaloosa, Alabama . She earned herPh.D. in political science and her master of science in criminal justice from theUniversity of Alabama .She was assistant professor of political science and criminal justice at the
University of South Alabama from 1996 to 1999. Since 1999, she has taught atStillman College where she has received several awards for excellence in teaching. She was also inducted into theZeta Phi Beta Hall of Fame at Stillman College. Her daughter is April Hart Hardy and her son in Keith.She married
David T. Beito onJune 11 ,1997 and they live inNorthport, Alabama .Her second book (co-authored by Professor
David T. Beito of theUniversity of Alabama ), "Black Maverick: T.R.M. Howard's Fight for Civil Rights and Economic Power," will appear in 2009. It is a biography ofcivil rights leaderT.R.M. Howard .Books
