mouse -like creature has gone through many changes in its classification. Originally believed to be "A. boliviensis", it was reassigned as a subspecies of "Necromys lactens " in 1932 by Gyldenstolpe then moved to the genus "Bolomys " by Reig in 1987 and is currently provisionally listed as a separate species of Akodon.
