Kodungoor is a small town in
Kottayam district of Kerala state inIndia . Kodungoor is 25 k.m from the district headquarters. The Kottayam-Kumaly road (NH-220) passes through the town.Kodungoor is famous because of Kodungoor Devi Temple near to the town which is one of the most ancient temples in the state. This major temple administration is governed by Travancore Devaswom Board.
Kodungoor town has several schools and one college near to the town run by Nair Services Society(NSS).
Kodungoor is well connected to all major town like Pala, Manimala, Changnacherry,Ponkunnam, Ranni and Kottayam through Road.
On travelling to Kumaly, Kodongoor is the second biggest town and for most of the travellers as well as pilgrims to Sabarimaa, kodungoor is an intermediate stop. There is an easiest route to Sabarimala through Kodungoor.
Kodungoor is a major point on the way to Sabarimala Temple of Lord Ayyappa.
