"Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Game" is a Parker Brothers Inc. track board game copyright dated 1958 based upon the Walt Disney Productions animated film "Sleeping Beauty" (1959).

Object of the game

The object of the game is to be the first player holding three different picture cards to reach the space marked "The End".

Equipment

* 1 folding, center-seamed game board illustrated with scenes and characters from "Sleeping Beauty"
* 4 counters (one each of red, yellow, blue, and green)
* 4 "magic" wands
* 1 set of picture cards
* 4 dials, each numbered 1 through 6

et up

The game board is opened and placed upon a flat surface. Each player selects a counter and a dial. The cards are shuffled and placed face down on the card space. The 4 wands are placed to the side of the game board. Each player spins his dial and the player spinning the highest number plays first.

Play

The first player moves the number of spaces along the track according to his spin on his dial. If he lands on a pink star, his turn ends. If he lands on a yellow star, he draws a card and follows its instruction. If he draws a picture card, he retains it face down at his place. If a player spins a 6, he has the choice of moving 6 spaces or taking a magic wand. He may play the wand at any time during the game and in doing so draws 2 cards, following their instructions. A player must hold three different picture cards before entering the Path of Happiness. If he does not hold 3 picture cards, he continues around the Deep Sleep circle until he attains the required 3 picture cards. Should a player land on a purple Maleficent space, he returns one of his picture cards to the deck.

Walt Disney's "Sleeping Beauty", the animated feature film

"Sleeping Beauty" is a 1959 animated feature film produced by Walt Disney and originally released to theatres on January 29, 1959. The sixteenth animated feature in the Disney animated features canon, it was the last animated feature produced by Walt Disney to be based upon a fairy tale (after his death, the studio returned to the genre with 1989's "The Little Mermaid"). In addition, "Sleeping Beauty" was the first animated feature to be shot in Super Technirama 70, one of many large-format widescreen processes.

The script was adapted from the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty" by Charles Perrault The film's musical score and songs, featuring the work of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, are adapted from "The Sleeping Beauty Ballet" (1890) by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The film tells the story of Aurora, an infant princess cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent. The baby princess is released by her parents to three good fairies who protect and rear her in a forest cottage. When Aurora attains the age of 16 years, she is returned to her parents with the hope that the curse has been rendered harmless. The curse takes effect however, and the princess falls into a death-like sleep after pricking her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. Prince Philip, who has met the princess in the forest and has fallen in love with her, defeats the evil Maleficent and wakens Aurora with love's first kiss.

The film generated books, toys, games, and other juvenile merchandise.
